Whatever your dreams are you can achieve them by following a few simple techniques.
When you dream how do you see yourself? Healthy and trim or overweight and sick. Wealthy, with all your bills paid and no mortgage or broke, unable to pay bills and getting behind on your mortgage.
I encourage you to visualize your life the way you want it to be. You must see it before you can be it or have it.
I recently read a story about the grand opening ceremony of Disney World in Orlando. Walt Disney had passed away prior to Disney World being completed. At the ceremony, the host recognized Mrs. Walt Disney’s attendance. He said “Mrs Disney, I just wish that Walt could have seen all this.” She reportedly stood up and said, “He did,” and sat back down.
He saw every detail of Disney World before it ever manifested. Where? In his imagination.
Albert Einstein said, “Your imagination is everything. It is a preview of life’s coming attractions.”
In a recent study by a professor at Virginia Tech, he found that people who wrote their goals (vision) earned nine times as much as those who didn’t! His research went on to reveal that when asked, “what are your goals for life” he found:
He went on to say… “do you know who those 1% are?” Millionaires.
You can use the same formula to improve your health.
Step 1. Write down your goals and review weekly.
You must see it, you must write it down, and you must review often what you want to achieve. If you do not they are only dreams and will not ever happen.
If you are trying to lose a few pounds are you writing down your goal and reviewing it often. Be specific. For example – “I will lose 15 pounds by April 1, 2011. Break down what you need to do – write a plan – implement the plan.
If you are trying to improve your health, what are you doing about it? Do you see yourself as healthy in your vision? Have you written down your goal? Are you taking any steps to improve your health? Have you joined a gym? Have you started to eat healthier? Are you visiting your chiropractor as often as you should?

You may be asking “children need chiropractic?”
Without hesitation, yes, children need chiropractic. Kids are always falling, bumping into things, getting exposed to who knows what at school.
In fact everybody with a spine needs a chiropractor and needs to have their spine checked for Subluxations regularly.
Healthy spines = healthy lives.
Having your children’s spine checked regularly and adjusted when necessary helps to improve their immune response, improves their body’s ability to adapt and self regulate.

In case you missed my prior posts I wrote about how sickness is not the result of prescription drug shortage, and the necessity of Chiropractic care in achieving your optimal health. I also wrote about the importance of nutrition and why we must take supplements. In today’s post I will briefly discuss the role of exercise.
There is a obesity epidemic in children ages 2-19 with 33% overweight, leading to a dramatic increase in childhood diabetes. Obese children are much more likely to become obese adults with all of the degenerative diseases associated with obesity.
Regular exercise is required for optimal health. Walking is the oldest physical activity of the human race. Jordan Rubin, NMD, PhD., writes that a brisk one or two mile walk everyday increases enzyme and metabolic activity and may increase calorie burning for up to twelve hours afterward.
Stop looking for a parking space close to your destination instead choose a spot far across the parking lot and walk in from there. Choose to take the stairs, forget the elevators. Go for a walk in the woods or take a walk on the beach. Walk through your neighborhood and let your neighbors know that somebody really does live in your house. When the weather isn’t cooperating go walk in the mall.
We all need exercise. Walking requires no special equipment and no health club membership. So turn off the TV, turn off the computer, get off the couch, put away the potato chips and go for a walk. Start taking steps to improve your health.
If you are physically unable to walk, use a stationary bike or go swimming. There are many everyday low impact activities that you can do for exercise. Whatever it is, just do it.
There are no shortcuts for achieving your optimal health. But in my opinion, and the opinion of many other health care professionals, optimal health is a combination of regular chiropractic care, proper nutrition, supplementation, and exercise.

In my previous post regarding optimal Health I have discussed the dangers of side effects from medical prescriptions, the importance of regular chiropractic care, and the importance of eating right. In this post I will briefly discuss the importance of nutritional supplements.
We are all exposed to contaminants and pollution through the air we breath, the foods we eat and the water we drink. This exposure to pollution increases the free radicals in our bodies.
All atoms, with exception of free radicals, have an even number of electrons. Free radicals are atoms with an odd number or an unpaired electron. These are very unstable and are always trying to steal an electron from another atom. The atoms that make up our cells are bombarded thousands of times daily by these free radicals. This constant bombardment causes mutagenic damage to the DNA in these cells. When these cells duplicate their daughter cells are abnormal (cancer). Atoms are the building blocks of molecules and molecules are the building blocks cells. Cells are the building blocks for our tissues and our tissues are the building blocks of our organs and our organs of our systems. If the atoms are abnormal the molecules and cells are abnormal, the tissues, organs and systems they make up can not be normal. This is the cause or most of the degenerative diseases and cancers we are familiar with.
The best way to counter act the potential damage from free radicals is to eat foods that are high in antioxidants and supplement with a high quality antioxidant.
This leads to another question I frequently get is “What is the best supplement I can take?”
It goes without saying, but I will say it anyway, that the best way to receive vitamins and minerals is through the food we eat. Unfortunately we Americans eat way too much highly processed foods that contain virtually no vitamins or nutrients, only empty calories.
In my opinion there are many high quality supplements available on the market. In my office I recommend to my patients to take a multivitamin with essential minerals. Along with the multi I also recommend a high antioxidant such as SAXI from DrinkACT. Many of the foods we buy at the grocery store are lacking essential vitamins and minerals mainly because they are highly processed to improve appearance and shelf life.
Most degenerative disorders and diseases are proceeded by chronic inflammation. The “Harvard Health Letter” in April, 2006 states that chronic inflammation may be the common factor in many diseases. Leading many if not most researchers to believe that if you can prevent the inflammation you can prevent the disease.
Many leading scientist have stated that drinking a small amount of high antioxidant beverages will have a positive effect in terms of cancer prevention.
Inflammatory diseases such as: irritable bowl, crohns, rheumatoid arthritis, and skin rashes like eczema, psoriasis and many others respond very well to high antioxidant and high anti-inflammatory supplements.

In my previous posts I discussed the dangers of side effects from prescribed medications, and the very important role of Chiropractic care. In this post I will be discussing the importance of good nutrition and it’s role in optimal health.
There are so many theories about how we should eat and there are good aspects of many of them. Common sense tells us that we should eat to live and not live to eat. Science tells us to eat foods that are high in fiber, low in highly processed saturated fat. I believe we should try to eat 10 – 13 servings per day of fresh, preferably organic, fruits and vegetables. Meats when consumed should not exceed 1 – 2 servings per day. Lean meats such as organic grass fed beef and buffalo are good examples. All meats should be trimmed very lean. All meats with steroids and antibiotics should be avoided if possible. Fish should be wild caught and not farm raised. Try to eliminate or limit the amount of inflammation causing highly processed white flour and sugars. Instead try using whole wheat and natural sweeteners such as honey or maple syrup when possible. Do not drink any soda pop as it is loaded with highly processed chemicals and sweeteners. Breakfast should be the larges and most important meal of the day. Giving you all day to burn off the calories of your largest meal. Evening snacks should be limited. Drink plenty of pure water. All excess calories we consume that our body does not use is stored as fat.
If you are a milk drinker tray to consume only non homogenized milk. If non homogenized milk is not available limit the amount of homogenized milk you drink and use only low fat. The homogenization of milk is done only for appearance purposes. The process beaks down large fat globules into smaller pieces and suspends them in the milk so the cream does not rise to the top of the jug. The large fat globules prior to homogenization do not readily pass through the lining of the intestines are not easily absorbed into your blood stream. The now smaller fat globules easily pass through the intestines into the blood causing a much higher incidence of atherosclerotic build up in your blood vessels. Remember that the more a food is processed the worse it is for you.

The overall message here is to eat a well balanced diet of food in it’s natural state the way God intended it to be eaten. Stay away from highly processed foods.
